Breede River Queen is a spacious and charming self-catering holiday home in Malgas on the Breede River.  This 350m² double storey house offers the ideal accommodation for friends & family gatherings, nature-loving groups, international travellers, or corporate groups. 

Breede River Queen is also the perfect location for your special occasion such as: birthdays, anniversary, etc... or personal and professional events.

Only 250km from Cape Town or George, 5km south of Malgas, River Queen is situated on the banks of the Breede River, one of the largest and longest navigable rivers in South Africa.

Breede River Queen Accommodation

The house is a combination of rustic charm and upmarket convenience, tailored for entertainment and equipped to make you feel at home. We rent out the house in its entirety on a boutique styled self-catering basis.  The house can accommodate groups up to 16/18 people. Larger groups can be accommodated by arrangement. We also cater for smaller or larger groups in different houses situated in the same village.

Living areas

The 2 large living rooms offer our guests perfect entertainment opportunities. Downstairs lounge: with a large indoor braai and fireplace. Close to the open plan kitchen and the dining room, you can relax and enjoy the fire during cold days or nights, cook on the braai and watch movies on our large screen tv with DStv and DVD. Free uncapped wifi.

Upstairs lounge: has a central fire place, a bar and access to the outdoor balcony overlooking the lush garden, swimming pool and the Breede river. 

The 2 sun rooms: both upstairs linked to the living rooms, have a stunning view, one of the river and the other one of the pond. 

The entertainment area is situated downstairs with direct access to the garden and the swimming pool. It allows our guest to enjoy indoor activities thanks to the billiard table and ping pong table, foosball table, dartboard, and large variety of board games..

Kitchen & Dining areas

The central open plan kitchen is situated downstairs. It is fully equipped with gas stove, oven & microwave, fridge/freezer, cutlery, crockery and cooking equipment. It is linked to a scullery with 3 sinks, a dish washer and a laundry area with washing machine and dryer.
 
The Dining room is right next to the open plan kitchen with a large table, and close to the stoep where a long wooden outdoor table can also sit a group of friends or family to enjoy a delicious meal.

Bedrooms

Breede River Queen comprises 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The 6 luxury bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms. The house also has some additional beds in the lounges and a separate bathroom with a toilet.

Things to do

We have our own private jetty, giving water lovers access to over 50km of tidal river. Perfect for all kinds of water sports like wakeboarding, water skiing, canoeing and kayaking. Fishing is also very popular, as this is arguably the best fishing estuary in South Africa.

Nearby activities include:

• De Hoop Nature Reserve (largest South African natural areas and World Heritage Site, with one of the largest marine protected areas in Africa).
• The coastal villages: Infanta and Witsand is situated at the mouth of the Breede river, where the river meets the Indian Ocean.
• Bontebok National park.
• Malgas pont is notorious for being the last hand-operated pontoon in South Africa.
• Part of the Cape Floral Kingdom with hundreds of varieties of Fynbos, you can enjoy various nature activities (depending on the season) like hiking, cycling, etc…
