Basterskloof Farm - Self Catering Farm Cottages on a working farm near Botrivier, Overberg, Western Cape

Basterskloof Farm is situated on a beautiful working farm outside Botrivier in the Overberg.  We have 3 self catering cottages on the farm, which offer the perfect country getaway for family or friends.

The farm is named after the "Basterskloof river" that serves the very important purpose of sustaining life on the farm. The farm produces apples, olives, almonds and Persian sheep. Our products are home grown and processed on the farm. We have a variety of products available in season. Apple cider vinegar, olive oil, a variety of jams and pickles and nuts. Make sure to enquire about these products should you be interested to purchase some on your next visit to us!

Basterskloof Farm Accommodation

Mountain Cottage

The "Mountain" cottage is perfect for the guests wanting a close view of the overberg fynbos, mountains, wildlife and dam. Although isolated from modern life with undisturbed nature, the cottage is fully and comfortably furnished with cosy fireplace, kitchen, bathroom, lounge area and upper deck. Sleeps 4. Outside braai and stoep available for those perfect afternoon sunsets and dam/mountain views. Fire wood on request. 

River Cottage

The "River" cottage is situated close to the river and is a bit closer to farm activity with a fully operational horse stud farm of rare spotted horses. The cottage is surrounded by rich bird and animal life with oak trees and grass fields. Perfect for those warm summer months with a suitable splash spot on the river. The cottage is comfortably furnished with cosy fire place, big lounge and kitchen area with a very comfortable bath room and bed room.  Sleeps two adults (Queen size bed) and 2 children in the lounge area.

Horse Cottage

The "Horse" cottage is based close to the horse activity looking out on mares with their foals. The cottage is surrounded by rich bird and animal life with oak trees, garden and grass fields. The cottage is comfortably furnished with cosy fire place, big lounge and kitchen area with a very comfortable bath room and bed room. No pets allowed.  Sleeps comfortably two adults.

The setting is a bit closer to farm activity with a fully operational horse stud farm of rare spotted horses - KNABSTRUPPER and APPALOOSA. This is a great opportunity to introduce people to the day to day management of horses.

Activities

There are many activities to enjoy, such as swimming, hiking, mountain biking as well as olive oil and apple cider vinegar tasting on the farm.
