Pearly Beach
Situated 2.5 hours (185 km) drive from Cape Town, and 20 minutes (25 km) from Gansbaai, in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, South Africa, lies the peaceful little town of Pearly Beach.
Geography and History
Although the concentration of permanent residents is increasing, over half the houses still belong to holiday-makers and people coming down for the weekend.
Pearly Beach is a popular angling spot, and on some weekends is inundated with those wanting to catch the biggest fish.
About 5 km off the coast from Pearly Beach is Dyer Island, the easternmost of the chain of seabird islands that is home to a colony of African Penguins.

There is a wide variety of accommodation option available from Bed and Breakfasts to Self Catering units.
Activities
On the inland side of Pearly Beach there are several plants species which are endemic to a small area of lime soils, and is one of the greatest botanical hotspots in the world.
In season Perlemoen (Abalone) and crayfish diving is a popular sport. Apart from fishing, the beaches are perfect for long walks and cycles.
